Maybe if more material was allowed in our culture that embodied optimism, hope or even equality & inclusiveness, people would be inclined to believe in their possibilities. Instead, the corporate oligarchy believes that if people are presented w/ fear scenarios & angry polemics that appeal to an established denominator which relies on the visceral not the thoughtful, that demographic will continue to come back for more. In the case of media, that's their only objective. To attract a sufficient # of viewers that will satisfy the advertisers & therefore the stockholders. Uplift & empowerment doesn't generate viewers (or followers).
