Animal Cruelty

I just came across a link to this article on Andrew Sullivan's blog.  This is utterly disgusting.  I have nothing against hunting if you eat what you kill, and you're not just a trophy hunter.  When I was a kid I went dove hunting.  I never went past that because I know I couldn't kill Bambi, but to be real hunter means you have to risk being cold and wet, and come home with nothing because the animal outsmarted you.

This latest craze of the "canned hunt" is just monstrous.  This is what Cheney was doing when he shot that old lawyer.  Tame birds, hand raised, trusting of people, released so rich people on a schedule can feel like studs.

Ugh.

The only time I killed something more evolved than an insect was when my cat caught a squirrel and she didn't finish the job, I'd do it if I had to feed myself, but not just so that I could feel 'manly'.
