					<description>It's true that TOS-era fan productions are more popular (there's a ton of them, according to &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_fan_productions" rel="nofollow"&gt;Wikipedia&lt;/a&gt;), but I think the longest-running of the fan productions (with something like 50 episodes done) is &lt;em&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.hiddenfrontier.org/" rel="nofollow"&gt;Star Trek: Hidden Frontier&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/em&gt;, set in the TNG-DS9 era, although it doesn't feature new actors cast as the series characters (like &lt;em&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.newvoyages.com/" rel="nofollow"&gt;The New Voyages&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/em&gt;).

It's really quite amazing though, what modern home computing (for special effects) and fan dedication (up to and including securing set blueprints to make exacting replicas of bridges, getting writers and actors from the shows involved, etc.) can do.

I'd be very interested in seeing the script for &lt;em&gt;Ensigns of Command&lt;/em&gt; as well, but not if it'd cause any trouble. I suppose technically the script belongs to them?</description>
