Husband and I gave up sodas completely last year to kick the caffeine habit and lose weight. We conquered the first but I don't know about the second - I think we just replaced it with another indulgence. :)

Here in Texas, Dublin Dr. Peppers (which also use cane sugar but are bottled here in-state) are becoming more common outside of the immediate area. It wasn't so long ago that the only way to score one was to have a friend stop in Dublin on the way to/from the Dallas area and pick up a case. I live 3 hours from Dallas and my local grocery store carries them now...

Oh, bummer on the diet drinks. Coke Zero isn't too bad, and it's better if you squeeze in a little lime juice. Daniel's theory is that you're better off drinking corn syrup (or sugar) than the chemicals in diet drinks. He's probably right.

Yeah, he's probably right. It's just a question of choosing whether to die from whatever the artificial sweetener does to our kidneys and livers, or heart disease from being overweight. Because like, giving up cola itself isn't even worth mentioning! :)

In San Antonio we have those Mexican cokes in several grocery stores and some restaurants. You have to read the label carefully as not all of them are made with cane suger. But when ice cold they are superb.
