I remember getting the first Wild Cards book off of the Wal-Mart paperback rack when I was in high school twenty years ago.

Loving the new book. About half-way through. Reading the new one feels oddly like coming home.

How about a deal? You send me the Wild Card series and I'll paint something for you (a horse, perhaps?)

We'll make the trade at midnight, in the south coulee down from Hunter's Ridge. That or by mail or something...

Melinda, congratulations on the relaunch! I look forward to reading Inside Straight. Congratulations also on finding a new horse. I know how trying a horse hunt can be, and reading your past posts, it seems like you found someone you appreciate.

Okay, Aaron, you intrigue me. You're a painter? Do you have a website? I'd love to see your art.

I have a lot of horse paintings in my house. (Yeah, like duh, no one could have ever guessed.) Anyway, one of my treasurers is a gift from Pat Rogers and Scott Denning. It's a Navajo girl mounted on a bright blue horse with the four sacred mountains in each corner, but they are incredibly abstract.

The artist was Ha-So-De who was known as the Gauguin of the Southwest. Once the sun isn't pouring in through the glass wall I'll try to get a picture of it, and post it. It's a wonderful piece.

Will you be at the WorldCon in Denver or Montreal?

Hi Melinda, the work you have sounds amazing. I looked up Ha-So-De. Beautiful colours, easy flow of lines...I could never compete, but hopefully complement!

Not sure about the WorldCon, but it is a good possibility. I was going to travel across Canada either this summer or next, so maybe next! I would love to make this work as I would consider it a personal honour to create something for your home.

Here are a few links to some of my work:

Oh, Wow, Aaron, I back from wandering through your links. Oh, Wow. They are all beautiful, but Ice Raven, The Keeper of the Sun and Master Weaver really blew me away. (I guess I'm more interested in animals than people. I don't want to think what that says about me.)

Anyway, it would be an honor for me to have a piece of work like yours, and a set of the Wild Card books would be a very small price to pay. I'm not sure I can rustle up copies of DUECES DOWN or DEATH DRAWS FIVE because of the mess when I-Books collapsed, but the rest I can manage. Why don't we talk off line about the details. I'm off to L.A. tonight so I'll get in touch next week.

Just a point of interest. My grandfather was half Cherokee so I'm a Cherokee, Scottish, Welsh American writer. :)

I loved the original Wild Cards and have a bunch of them that i made sure I brought out with me to Brazil. i shall probably not see the new one...well not for a few years or I can get someone to send me one. Is George involved as well?

Good luck

That's a shame you can't get the latest book. I've never used Amazon from a foreign counttry. I wonder if postage is just hideous? I sent a copy of the book to a writer in Great Britain, and I used Amazon U.K. It worked like a charm.

Yes, George is involved. In fact he has a story in INSIDE STRAIGHT. I don't know if we'll see any more stories right now. He's hard at work on his book.
